Minimum Clear Cab Inside Width
Minimum width of the inside of the cab for service type and capacity.
Clear Opening
The side-to-side and front-to-back dimension that is needed for the elevator to fit in the hoistway.
Overhead
Clear overhead is defined as the lowest point below the roof structure. It’s measured to the bottom of the hoist beam. All dimensions are based on 8’ tall cabs. 9’ and 10’ heights are also available. Overhead will increase 12” for each additional foot of cab height.
Pit Depth
Depth below the elevator cab’s bottom most landing. The pit extends from the level of the lowest landing door down to the floor at the very bottom of the shaft.
Hoistway Depth
The depth of the hoistway.
Hoistway Width
The width of the hoistway.
Door Type
The number of door panels and the way they open.
Capacity
The amount of weight an elevator can safely carry.
Service Type
General Purpose: doors are always on the long side of the hoistway and ADA compliant to carry passengers.
Hospital/Service: doors are on the short side of the hoistway to accommodate hospital stretcher/beds.
